What is the FCC Covered List?
The Covered List is the FCC’s published list of communications equipment and services deemed to pose an unacceptable risk to U.S. national security, kept under section 1.50002 of the Commission’s rules and section 2 of the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019. Equipment on the list cannot receive new FCC equipment authorization, which in practice stops new import, marketing and sale in the United States. Equipment authorized before its entry was added is not revoked.
This page summarises the list for commercial planning. It is not legal advice and not a substitute for the FCC’s own list, which is the only authoritative version: fcc.gov/supplychain/coveredlist. Verify against it before relying on anything here.
Which Covered List entries can bar a device because of one component?
Entries come in two kinds, and the difference decides whether a part on your BOM is a problem. From 13 October 2026, a device is barred from new FCC authorization if it incorporates a logic-bearing hardware component produced by an entity subject to a producer- or provider-based determination, and the device would itself have been barred had that entity produced it. Production-location-based entries (foreign-produced UAS, routers, power inverters, advanced robotic devices) attach to where equipment is produced, not to who produced it, and do not by themselves trigger the component rule.

Which foreign-produced equipment is on the Covered List? Production-location entries
These attach to where equipment is produced. Each carries a Conditional Approval exception granted by the Department of War or the Department of Homeland Security.

Component rule takes effect: a device incorporating a logic-bearing hardware component produced by an entity subject to a producer- or provider-based Covered List determination is barred from new FCC authorization where the device would itself have been barred.
