Meet the experts

Senior-led, hands-on delivery. No juniors on your project—only professionals with proven track records in regulated, cross-border environments.

Paal Selnaes

Director and Founder

Paal Selnaes founded Norseman Projects to help European technology companies successfully enter North American markets, drawing on decades of hands-on expertise in product certification, RF/wireless hardware, carrier approvals, and cross-border execution.

He served as project lead for the landmark FCC and AT&T certification project for Filip Technologies (now Xplora), where the team developed and validated one of the first wearable-specific FCC testing frameworks, securing the initial formal FCC approval for a child wearable with full two-way voice capability and subsequent AT&T carrier validation. This foundational work continues to influence industry standards for consumer wearables today.

Paal helps teams avoid costly surprises through early compliance gap mapping, structured roadmaps, and disciplined execution—delivering predictable, first-pass outcomes in regulated environments such as MedTech, Defense, RF/Telecom, and IoT. His technical depth includes co-inventing 12 patents in wearable technology and RF integration. Based in Trondheim with London HQ operations, Paal leads senior-only engagements focused on risk mitigation and market readiness.

Anders Broms

Global Business Developer

Anders Broms brings senior executive experience and a global perspective to Norseman Projects, with deep expertise in IoT, telecom, and software industries developed through leadership roles at Ericsson and Sony Ericsson (including responsibilities across EMEA and Asia Pacific).

In 2012, Anders joined forces with Paal Selnaes and the core team on the landmark Filip Technologies (now Xplora) wearable project — one of the first voice-capable child wearables. His contributions helped navigate complex FCC, carrier (AT&T), and regulatory challenges, establishing foundational testing frameworks that continue to influence industry standards today.

Anders later joined MultiTech Systems in the U.S., where he spearheaded the successful introduction of LoRa technology into Europe, leading strategic market expansion, partner alliances, and commercial validation in IoT and low-power wide-area networks. At Norseman Projects, he applies this transatlantic insight to global business development, investor risk mapping, partner introductions, regulatory alignment, and strategic consulting — helping European teams in MedTech, defense-adjacent, and regulated sectors achieve predictable North American market access with disciplined execution and rapid response.

Our Track Record

These milestones reflect the senior expertise and disciplined execution that define Norseman Projects. From pioneering wearable certification frameworks to enabling predictable North American market entries, our work delivers real, measurable results for European tech teams in regulated environments.

Strategic Partnership & Expanded Wireless Capabilities (Ongoing)

Through deep alliance with Device Solutions Inc. (post-merger with Raptor Wireless Labs), integrated advanced RF engineering, embedded systems, and patented wireless power technologies into client projects. This collaboration has enhanced end-to-end support—from antenna optimization and regulatory validation to production-scale integration—delivering seamless, high-performance solutions for automotive, defense, medical, and utility sectors.

Pioneering FCC & AT&T Approval Framework for Children's Wearable with 4G Connectivity (2011–2013)

The core Norseman team first collaborated in 2011 on a landmark project with Filip Technologies (now Xplora Technologies) to bring one of the earliest voice-capable child wearables to the U.S. market. Partnering directly with AT&T, we spearheaded the creation and validation of a new FCC testing standard tailored for wearables—addressing RF compliance, SAR considerations, modular integration, and full two-way voice capability via a 4G Telit modem in a compact, safety-focused device.

This resulted in the first formal FCC letter of approval for a wearable with unrestricted calling features, followed by carrier validation from AT&T. The testing protocols and groundwork we established continue to influence FCC guidelines and industry practices for consumer wearables today.

Multiple Patents in Wearable & Wireless Technology

The Norseman team brings a powerful collective patent portfolio in wearable technology, RF integration, antenna systems, and wireless hardware design, with Paal Selnaes contributing 12 patents and Anders Broms contributing 8 patents.

These innovations focus on compact, reliable connectivity solutions for regulated and battery-constrained devices. This deep intellectual property foundation enables us to help European clients avoid common design pitfalls, reduce long-term compliance risks, accelerate development cycles, and deliver more robust, market-ready products in MedTech, IoT, RF/Telecom, and defense-adjacent sectors.

Zero-Redesigned Certifications in Regulated Wireless Projects

Delivered pre-lab gap analysis, RF alignment, and documentation preparation that eliminated costly PCB respins, lab reruns, and redesign loops for multiple European IoT and MedTech clients entering North America. By identifying and mitigating risks early, we enabled first-pass FCC/ISED/PTCRB approvals—often shaving months off timelines and preserving budgets in high-stakes environments.

Secure Cross-Border Market Entries in MedTech, Defense & RF/Telecom

Guided European hardware teams through complex regulatory pathways—including ITAR/EAR export controls, FDA wireless guidance alignment, and carrier-specific requirements—to achieve full commercial launch in the U.S. and Canada. These projects highlight our strength in building product-specific roadmaps with built-in risk registers, stakeholder alignment, and predictable execution across sensitive sectors.
